There’s nothing like packing two days of work, food, and discovery into a whirlwind trip. Our latest stop: Portland, Oregon, where we teamed up with Yum’s of PDX to bring their space to life. Here’s how it unfolded.
Monday
Landed at PDX at 9:30 pm, that mix of tired and wired you get from cross-country travel.
First Stop: Pacific Standard for martinis and a burger. The kind of no-frills, late-night ritual that instantly makes you feel grounded in a new city.

Tuesday
Started the morning with coffee from Roseline. Smooth, yet strong enough to reset our internal clocks.
We headed straight to Yum’s for a site visit, finally stepping into the space we spent 7 months designing and constructing. We met with Owner and Head Pizzaiola, Miriam Weiskind, to walk through the restaurant and start sketching our game plan for the shoot.

From there, a quick trip to the Portland Flower Market to gather florals. The magic of a photoshoot always lies in the details.
Lunch at Café Olli was exactly the pause we needed before our afternoon adventure.
The day turned into a treasure hunt: searching for empty wine bottles to style shelves (success thanks to brewery supply shop F. H. Steinbart Co.) and browsing vintage spots like City Home for statement vases.

Back at Yum’s, we started prepping for the big day ahead, all while taste-testing some of the best pizza we’ve ever had (and yes, we’re saying that as a New York-based team).
Dinner that night was at Luce. Filled with warm light and Italian comfort, it’s exactly where you want to be after a long day.

Wednesday
Call time: early (!!)
We met with The Morrisons, our incredible photographers, to discuss the shot list, lighting, and styling. All the little choices that shape the big picture.
The morning became a blur of florals, cleaning, and styling to make sure every corner got its moment.

Miriam spoiled us with more of her delicious pizza for lunch (perks of the job)! We had the opportunity to try her Grandma Pie - a limited-edition special - and it quickly became a team favorite. The dough goes through a 96-hour fermentation, which sounds intense, but is so worth it.
Then the real action began: still photography, video tours, founder interviews, and plenty of dough tossing.
And that’s a wrap! We took a quick stop at Negociant for apps and drinks to toast the day.
Then off to the airport for our 10:30 pm red-eye back to New York.

By the time we boarded our red-eye back home, we were running on pizza, coffee, and adrenaline. Portland sent us home inspired, a little tired, and grateful for the kind of projects that blend hard work with joy.
