We’re opening up our bags this week, because let’s be honest, what’s inside says a lot about how we move through our days. From site visits to client meetings (and maybe a midday coffee stop), our team keeps a few essentials on hand that make design life a little easier. Consider this your backstage pass into our day-to-day. Take a guess now how many measuring tapes we have!

People always comment on my backpack being so heavy - that’s because, aside from my laptop, I always carry a hefty tape measure, a portable charger, my Hydroflask, and a travel size of Le Labo’s Another 13. Being on site means needing to take measurements at any given moment, not always having safe access to power, and sometimes breaking a sweat and needing to hydrate and refresh (especially on those sweltering NYC summer days)!

I’m always carrying a multitool key that comes with multiple gadgets to open packages, bottles, etc., plus a notepad to jot down some quick notes or reminders. Something about writing tends to stick better in my memory.

I always have our DJI Osmo camera in my bag to capture the team in action during site visits or install days. I’m never seen without a Summer Fridays lip balm - either Vanilla Beige or Pink Sugar - it’s my favorite! I also like to keep a Saie blush on me for a quick touch-up after work.

Besides my phone and wallet, the two items I always have in my bag are sunglasses for when I’m moving between site visits or just stepping out to grab a matcha, and a mini metal measuring tape I got on Etsy. It’s incredibly handy for when I need to measure something quickly.

Most days, my bag has my Gisou lip oil, my keys, and my laptop (my essential for checking site dimensions or tweaking design details on the go).
